Safe Use of Cable Location & Avoidance Equipment.

A half-day training course aimed at all personnel involved in excavations where there is a likelihood of buried services under the guidance of HSG 47.

The aim of the course is to train selected personnel in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competence to carry out the duties of service location surveys before and during excavation.

Delegates are assessed by question and answer sessions during theoretical module and then performance assessed during practical module. 

Certificate of Competency issued to all delegates who successfully complete the course.

  • Basic Service Location Theory.
  • Features and Functions of Cable Locators.
  • Features and Functions of Signal Generators.
  • Features and Functions of Accessories inc. Sondes and Clamps.
  • Practical Use of Locators, Generators and Accessories.

Course Commences 08.30am

  • Location Theory.
  • Features and Functions of Cable Locators.
  • Features and Functions of Signal Generators.

Tea Break 10.20am - 20mins

  • Features and Functions of Accessories inc. Sondes and Clamp.
  • Practical Use of Locators, Generators and Accessories. 

Course Ends 12.30pm

Evaluation Requirements

On completion of training, all trainees must show understanding of all modules.

Ratio limited to one trainer to 8 delegates maximum.
Delegates will be assessed during theoretical modules and by practical evaluation.
